I’m Berno Smit
I've had a wonder for stories all of my life. Everything I make starts from one belief: a powerful story has to be
of people, for people.
I was eleven when I realized that film makes these stories accessible
to the world, and since then I've
reached for my camera every day of
my life. My world is built around passion.
Passion for stories, for my craft,
for the details that live between
these two worlds, and for the
impact all of that has.
Dusk Till Dawn was born out of this:
the sense that so much of our journey happens in between. In the dark of the night, or at the brink of the light arriving.
I want my craft to bring a new dawn
to things: a new beginning,
a new perspective, a new hope.
It's why there's a colon in our name,
the small mark that introduces
whatever comes next.
I aim for excellence in every frame.
The magic resides with intent.
I believe the care taken now is what
lets a story outlast the project.
Every story reaches a turning point…
the moment the light begins to arrive.
